What are the Top 3 things you should have thrown away... like, yesterday?

I was planning another post for today, but this topic seems tailor-made for me. In fact, I am not sure how I can possibly choose only three items I could throw away. I am a keeper. A hoarder. A stasher. Some of this comes from the feeling of not having enough money. I think being a stay-home mom, I realize that we have to make our money count. I am not perfect at this (see my Target splurges) but it does make me want to keep what we have...just in case. Few things irk me more than having to re-buy something we tossed or donated, thinking we were done with that.
3. I am currently storing 3 baby crib mattresses. Two of them are in my attic. Now, I do have a large walk-in attic, so it's not like they are bothering anyone, but 3? I know. I need to take them to the donation drop-off. And I will, but the one has a torn cover and I am sure they will reject it...so I made a sort of make-shift dog bed out of it.
That is probably very tacky of me, but my doggie loves it. Maybe I will make a cover for it to disguise it a little. As for the other 2, they will be donated. I am certainly not using them now. I just kept keeping them, thinking I MIGHT use them. You never know when you'll need a spare, right?
2. In my medicine cabinet, I have a ton of pregnancy-related stuff: gentle iron tabs, evening primrose oil, prenatal vitamins and possible some homeopathic supplements for helping to start labor. These supplements were expensive! So I cannot stand to flush them down the toilet.
I keep thinking I will start back on the iron tabs, just in case. As for the evening primrose oil, if you ever used it you do not ever want to smell it again, so you will understand that I will not be taking it any time soon, but I will keep it until it has expired...or maybe a tad longer so I can truly justify the toss. :)

1. Lately, I have noticed sure signs that I am OLD. Some of you are blogging about beautiful dresses that are practically identical to the one I wore to prom in 1990...or the shoes I wore to homecoming in 1987. I tossed most of that stuff, thinking it was old and out of style(except for my Doc Martins and the prom dresses) . I am older AND wiser now! I am keeping it all from now on. It seems so crazy to go buy something I already had and probably can only get 50 cents for at a rummage sale! My Junior Prom was the one prom when I had a boyfriend, so I got a NICE dress. At the time, it was really expensive. I still remember going into the boutique with my girls and trying them on...It was so worth it. I had a great time and felt like a princess.
Anyhoo... I still have it and I am keeping it! Along with the wilder, more daring and *ahem* cheaper (wink) Senior Prom dress, some bridesmaids dresses AND of course my wedding and rehearsal dresses, all of Princess's formal dresses so far...and a few other goodies. I know, I am a little CRAZY, but seriously, are you surprised?

So cute..I love your top 3...I never went to prom so I don't have any old prom dresses..and I did not have enough money to buy or rent a wedding dress so no wedding dress for me either..but I have a great life..so it' not a big deal...anyhoodles have a great day! I am now your newest follower..fan..um..stalker..well, you get the idea!
Oh my goodness! You are too funny! I am definitely now a hoarder. I throw things out too fast sometimes and then wish I had them back. But my storage area is very clean. LOL
Ahh I love the hoarder show...maybe it is because I'm the exact opposite! It drive my dad and husband crazy but I just hate feeling cluttered/suffocated! Awesome post! :)
"Everything's Old That's New Again", isn't that how the saying goes? I'm sure you'll end up getting some use out of those saved clothes!
I also have evening primrose, pre-natal vitamins, and fenugreek in my bathroom-- for when I get pregnant again-- or should I say, IF I get pregnant again!

Confessions From A Working Mom
I've been hoarding an old, non-working oil lamp since my grandma died in 1993. She loved it. I hate it. But is was hers so much to my husband's chagrin, it has earned a perma-spot on a storage shelf in the basement!
Hehe I wonder whose post about beautiful 80's dresses you are refering to...hehe!
And I'm a total pack rat too! I can't stand to throw anything out because I may need it in the future and I am way to cheap to buy something again that I already had once! lol
Let me think....
My first Raggedy Ann - 52 now
My first pair of Keen shoes
My wedding dress...... ok, maybe...
Hugs,
Kate - TGB - xoxoxoxox
That is one of my biggest pet peeves. I hate that I am always throwing things away ... and then the next day I am looking for it again. Sigh.
I have learned that I will keep any and every thing of Lo's for when the next little one comes along.
I hate to throw things away, but once I get going, it's like a drunken rampage! Watch out!
This was very funny! I can't even begin to name just trhee things..I'd need to walk around with a pen and pad and take INVENTORY. The refrigerator alone takes the cake.
You crack me up. I loved your comment about your pregnancy supplements. I'm not much of a hoarder but God forbid I throw anything away that I paid good money for and never quite used! And hey, at one point we had 3 crib mattresses too. Not sure how it happened. But I put my foot down. Now we only have 2! ;)
I have a Raggedy Ann top sheet from when I was a baby that I'll never part with (even though it's tucked away in the attic). I have the hardest time parting with bags (currently they have their own box in my closet) and books. The rest (including my wedding dress) are all fodder for donation.
Dresses? Check. Old pregnancy meds, etc? Check. Baby mattresses....yeah, we were storing one for awhile, but did finally toss it. Amazing how much junk we can accrue, huh?
Thanks for playing our game!
